A Winter's Day at the Point

A winter storm coming in tonight with the prospect of
30 or 40 cm of snow.

Found this shelf mushroom along the trail. Unfortunately
I can't identify it. I could, since Santa has apparently
stashed a very nice mushroom guide in the closet, however
its in plastic shrink wrap, which presents certain problems...

The Barred Owl is still at Lemoine, always fairly close
to the parking lot.

He was high up in the tree. A Blue Jay came and landed on
the branch below him and squawked at him but the owl
didn't even look down. After a bit he flew about a hundred yards
away to another high branch and perched there.
